Dear Kara -What a wonderful thing you are doing in Shane's memory. We're so proud of you and your family - you all are very inspiring. You are a wonderful friend to Jamie and we love having you in our lives (As you know, we ran out of Two Buck Chuck and are getting really low on stamps, but will re-stock on both soon along with a couple of new front door keys) Thank you so much for watching Chewi and Caya last weekend when we needed to go to Virginia to be with our family for the memorial to our nephew. We know that you and your family are feeling our pain with us - as it's so close to your own, but you were still willing to give your time to help. AMAZING!!!!! (Sorry about the Chewster's snoring) We love you and will pass on "Acts of Kindness" in Shane's memory. What a wonderful tribute to your brother. Thanks again for being a wonderful friend and terrific person. Love you. T & C

Dear Halligan family,
It is great to see a site dedicated to the memory of Shane, and its a great site. Even though I've been away from Springfield, I find that I miss Shane everyday. Everytime I look at my Godspell pictures or think about Boy Scout camping trips I get a little sad, but thats only until I look more closely at the pictures. Shane always seemed to have a smile and I take comfort in that smile. I think about when we were at Nationals for theater and all of us guys were sitting around making jokes. Someone told a joke that made Shane laugh so hard he had to go and throw up. And boy was his laugh great, made everyone else in the room laugh till it hurt. Then a few minutes later he decided that it would be hilarious if he were to wear all of his costumes all at once. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard. That was Shanes gift, making people laugh. I know from reading the other posts here that I'm not the first person to mention this, but its so true. I miss you buddy.JL

Oh I just remembered a funny story. When Grace, Kate, Paige, Shane, Nick and I were in the Poconos, we decided to go for a golf cart ride. Grace was driving( I think) and Paige wanted a cookie from Mommoms. So we stopped and Paige went to get her cookie, Shane went with her. As Paige got back into the golf cart we drove away. Shane saw us and started running after us so fast, he was laughing so hard which made it all the more funny.
Another time was when he made us to 'Chinese Fire Drills' when we changed spots in the golf cart. Or when he sung Gwen Stefani and a bunch of other songs.
So many memories.
Love,
Genna

Dear Halligan family,

I'm glad to see this memorial site. It's weird when I find myself thinking of Shane these days. I almost feel like he's still alive, still with us all in some sense. It's strange how you never realize how many times you enjoyed being around a person until they're gone. Anyone, I hope everyone's doing okay, or at least okay as can be.

Love,
Steve

im not actually really sure how i met shane. probably through cub scouts while Mr. Halligan was pack master. but regardless, we used to play capture the flag together, a few of us were a team. when we lost shane, we felt like we lost a comrade. one could even compare it to losing a soldier in part of a patrol.
well, however it worked out, shane was also a part of our group who walked home from school everyday, that is until he got his car, and even then, he would give us rides sometimes.
i really have no idea where im going with this but i think however we knew shane, it was always in a positive way.

ill never forget him...

im not going to lie to you all, me and shane werent close friends till this year, in history class..
where he made fun of the jokes that the teacher made..which were not funny..so shane made us laugh at them,
later after shane left us..we were annoyed by the jokes.. and it made the whole class upset when the teacher would make jokes..
my point is that shane may not have been friends with everyone in the school, but he sure did make an impression on everyones lives..
and we will never forget him, or the halligan family..
keeping you all in my prayers.
i will never for get you shane..
i know you are watchin down on me,
because im retaking that history class..
and i have passed all my tests so far...last half i falied them all..
and shane said "youll make it through with out any problems if you have to retake it." and here i am.. with a B+ in the class thanks to shane
LOVE YOU SHANE..NEVER FORGOTTEN

Dear Halligan famly and friends of Shane,

Its nice to see the website up and running and all of the messages already. I really miss Shane and its sad not to see his face at school or the once and a while camping trip. My favorite event that happened was when he wore his flipflops, knee socks, boxers, no shirt, and a neckerchief to wake everyone up at camp, but that was Shane for you always trying to make someone laugh or smile. As maureen said it was hillarious when he said "fayce" which I had never really let him get off the hook from saying. I also remember when he tought me the knots before a board of review which I would have had an easy time passing if he had not helped me. Most of all though, I will never forget the smile, the laugh, and the warm feeling Shane gave me when he was around. I miss you so much bud, and I will never forget how much of great of a friend you were.

Love, Scotty

Hey Halligans and friends of Shanigan,

I'm glad to see everyone still holding together. I miss the Shanigan and all the funny stuff he would say and do. I read Chris's post, and the time he jumped off the chair to chase the quarter and slipped was truly one of the funniest things I've ever seen. That, and the time he sang Rich Girl and Aicha at the chorus picnic. And of course when he and Mrs. Halligan took me to see Godspell. It was great but Shane insisted that it wasn't good because it wasn't the same as the one he was in. Of course it wasn't. We miss you in the thespians, buddy, you really did carry the show every single time. "Do take another look at his most unusal fayce!"--Oliver Twist. We'll never know what went through your head that day, but the important thing is that we remember you and the life you lead, the jokes you cracked, and all the funny things you did. We miss you bud.
Love, Maureen

Dear Halligan Family,
I am so glad that Shane's website is finally up. I am so glad that this site will be around to remember him. I wish I would have known what was gonna happen on 12/12 when i had i convo with him merely one 1/2 hours before.

I'm glad for the time spent with Shane and knowing that he was one of the greatest World History know-it-alls. He certainly classed me in the history of WWII, BlackHawkDown and many others.

The story i bring today to the board is one that I've told so many people. It was the summer of 2005. We were all hanging out at my neighbors house. Shane, Lyle and myself were all sitting at a table when from across teh room came a quarter, landing a few feet behind Shane's chair. Needless to say, he jumped up so fast he didn't notice the CD case on teh ground and tripped, hittign the ground hard. Everyone asked if he was okay as he began to laugh. He was always able to make us laugh, even when he was the one who would do the falling

I gave out my first kindness card about 2 weeks ago. We had a snow storm that left a sheet of ice on my driveway, which was so hard for me to shovel. I did as much as I could, but the plows had created a icy dam at the base of my driveway that I couldn't get through. Later that night, I heard my neighbor, Andy, coming by with his snow blower. Andy is a great guy, with a wonderful familoy and is always willing to give a helping hand. He plowed right through that thick, icy mess and I was able to get to work the next day. I enclosed one of my kindness cards in a Thank You note, along with a video gift card he can share with his family. He didn't have to help me, but out of kindness, he did. Hopefully the next time he is able to help a fellow neighbor, he'll think of Shane and pass along his card. Kara, his memory will always remain a happy one for me. I'll always remember his great laugh.
Love,
Mel
